here are three types of travel agencies in the world. The first type of those travel agents is to have multilevel tie ups with actual service providers from across the world. These organizations expand their activities across the world and ensure that their spread of tie-ups include all aspects of travel service requirements. This enables them to combine the various offers provided by different vendors and form exclusive and all inclusive packages of their own.
This travel packages are unique for each organization of such type and are generally not offered directly to the public. Instead, the packaged offers or sold to the various mid-level travel agencies, and also to corporate and bulk order customers. The revenues of these organizations are not dependent on the direct sales of the packages to the public, but are dependent on their ability to attract mid-level travel agencies as their customers.
The second type of travel agencies is mid-level operators. These travel agencies are true to the moniker of commission agents. They buy travel packages from bigger organizations and sell them directly to the public. They charge a per sale commission to the bigger organizations, and sometimes also charge service commissions to their customers. The third type of travel agencies is the independent operators.
